Faster claim reimbursement? Try this 5-step process with MediBuddy

Many of us expect reimbursement claims to entail wait time and follow-ups. Many of us also approach claim submission with some amount of anxiety. What if the documents are lost? Have all the necessary documents been submitted? How soon will the reimbursement come in? Why is there a delay?

At Medi Assist, we make every attempt to address these concerns and make claim reimbursements faster and hassle-free.

1. Send us a claim intimation

Particularly in the case of personal health insurance policies, an advance claim intimation helps us and your insurer prepare to receive your impending claim. Log into our website, www.medibuddy.in, and send us a reimbursement claim intimation before discharge from the hospital.

2. Submit reimbursement claim online

Online claim submission is really easy with MediBuddy:

  • Enter the details of your claim, along with itemized bill information, on your MediBuddy portal, and the claimed amount is automatically calculated.
  • Scan and upload all relevant documents online. Use the documentation checklist displayed on the submission screen to ensure that all necessary documents are enclosed.

3. Upload missing documents if notified

Medi Assist starts processing your claim based on your online submission. We send you a notification in case any shortfall is identified in the documents. You can then submit the missing documents online before proceeding with the physical submission of your claim. This saves a lot of the time that would otherwise be spent on obtaining the missing documents separately, keeping the entire claim processing on hold.

4. Submit originals with online document tracking during transit

While we do start processing your claim based on the online submission made, claims can be settled only upon receipt and verification of original documents. Use any of the following methods to send your documents:

  • Direct courier: Take a print of the bar-coded claim form auto-generated upon online submission of your claim on MediBuddy. Append this form to your claim submission docket and use this bar-code to track your documents as they make their way to your Medi Assist servicing branch.
  • Corporate SmartBox: If you have a MediBuddy SmartBox installed at your corporate campus, you can tag your documents to the box into which you drop them using your MediBuddy app. Your Medi Assist servicing team receives an instant notification about the documents awaiting collection and arranges for a secure pick-up at the earliest. And you can track your documents in transit using the bar-code reference number.

5. Track your claim in real-time

With the assurance of complete documentation and the comfort of document tracking, you can now sit back, relax, and track the status of your claim using your MediBuddy anytime, anywhere.

Document checklist

Before concluding, here is the document checklist that you can keep handy with you for claim submission:

  • Hospital final bill with item- and amount-wise breakup. View Sample
  • Pre-numbered receipts for all payments made. View Sample
  • Discharge summary and investigation reports. View Sample
  • Medicine bills with prescriptions. View Sample
  • Copy of Medi Assist ID/photo ID.
  • Canceled cheque leaf
  • Implant sticker and purchase invoice (if applicable)
  • Medico-legal certificate / FIR / diagnosis report (if applicable)
  • Signed claim form specifying total number of documents
  • All documents to be numbered from the last page to first page
