What is an A-scan Report?
A-scan report is the result of A-scan ultrasound (a noninvasive, painless ultrasound procedure) that measures the eye, shows various lens options and powers, and suggests the right intraocular lens power.
Why is it important?
When applying for cataract claims, A-scan report justifies the need for certain medical procedures and treatments, helps assess the severity of the condition, and ensures the claim’s accuracy. Other uses include:
- An official record of the patient’s eye condition and measurements taken, crucial in determining follow up care and associated benefits
- Evidence for preoperative conditions and justification for the surgical choices made in case of legal disputes
