Your eyes get tired too!

Have you noticed your eyes getting tired in a while? Well, it can be due to eye fatigue.

Eye fatigue happens when your eyes are in pain due to being overworked beyond their capacity. Eye fatigue occurs when the muscles in our eyes fail to receive enough rest and hydration.

If you are unsure if you have eye fatigue, here are some symptoms that can be linked to eye fatigue:

  • Blurry vision or distorted vision
  • Frequently seeing double
  • Sensing constant dryness
  • Your eyes are almost always red or pink in color
  • Your eyes feel warm and sore when you close them
  • Experiencing headaches more frequently
  • Tightness in temples, neck, and back
  • Teary, watery eyes

Remedies to treat eye fatigue include:

  • If too much screen time tires your eyes, follow the 20-20-20 rule: take a 20-second break, every 20 minutes and, look at something 20 feet away.
  • Use the right light while reading or working on a computer.
  • Use the right eyewear. If you need glasses or contacts for computer work, use them.
  • Keep your computer screen clean.
  • Position your computer screen 20 to 26 inches away from your eyes.
  • Blink more often to keep your eyes moist when you're at your computer.
